The DS2000C has been designed to keep complexity of installation, commissioning and use as simplified as possible providing an attractive cost of ownership for a fully featured ICCS solution. Housed in a single 19 half height EMC cabinet, the DS2000C uses off the shelf components wherever possible keeping hardware costs to a minimum.

All the communication resources are connected to the central equipment. Any operator connected to the system either locally or remotely has full access to all functionality, voice communication and data feeds. Communication resourses are pooled allowing multiple operators to access the same radio or telephone calls with full patch and connect facilities.

TETRA connectivity can be provided using a wireline interface or via TETRA Fixed Mobile PEI Interfaces, enabling the DS2000C to be used on any TETRA Infrastructure. Telephony connectivity is achieved by using a DPNSS interface to the local PABX.

The use of a central switch architecture ensures that low bandwidth links can be used to deploy operator consoles rather than the high bandwidth links required where audio switching and combining is undertaken at the operator console. Operators can connect to the system either via the Local Area Network (LAN) or remotely over a Wide Area Network (WAN)

The centralised architecture design also means that central access is available to all operator audio, regardless of eventual console location, for supervisory monitoring and centralised audio recording applications.

The DS2000C is typically deployed as a single non resilient switch. If a resilient solution is required it is possible to connect to one other DS2000C system using remote access capability. Operators can choose to connect to an alternate DS2000C should their main system become unavailable.

Operator consoles can be deployed either permanently or on a temporary basis at all locations where dispatcher control is required. Extensive use of portable terminals is already made by U.K. police forces in sporting stadia and other temporary locations for control of public order situations.
